A cargo lifting net is a flexible rope or webbing net that lifts a whole consignment as one unit. Hung from its corner or multi-point slings, it spreads the load across a wide face instead of a single point, so irregular, loose or stacked goods can be moved without being repacked or strapped one piece at a time.
This category covers the flat lifting net, the three-dimensional net bag and the heavy-duty large-tonnage net, made in nylon, polyester, polypropylene, UHMWPE and aramid to the mesh, rope diameter, size and working load your cargo needs. Tell us the load, its shape and how it is presented to the crane, and we will confirm the net that fits it.
Choosing a cargo lifting net by the load, not by the size
A net is specified from three things: what the cargo is, how it is packed, and how the net will be attached. Loose goods that must not escape the net need a closed three-dimensional form; a palletised or bundled load that only has to be held together is served by a flat net with four corner points. The mesh and the rope diameter follow from the cargo’s smallest dimension and its mass, not from the net’s outside size.
Materials, and what decides between them
- Nylon — the general-purpose choice: tough, abrasion-resistant, good with shock loads.
- Polyester — low stretch, stable under a steady load, good for repetitive handling.
- Polypropylene — light and economical, and it floats; suited to light daily work.
- UHMWPE and aramid — for the highest strength-to-weight, and for heat or flame exposure respectively.
Whatever the fibre, the contact is soft: a net will not scratch a finished, coated or painted surface the way a chain or a wire rope does. Where the cargo is dressed, say so on the enquiry and the mesh and edge protection are chosen with that in mind.
Frequently asked
What working load should I specify? The load as it is presented, for the arrangement you will actually use — the net’s rating is not the same as the crane’s.
Can a net be made to my size? Yes. Size, mesh, rope diameter, number of lifting points and capacity are all made to order.
Is marking supplied? Yes — the working load limit and the identification the net was made to are marked on the net.
