Lift aramid fall protection safety net — braided aramid rope mesh with a reinforced border rope, sized to your opening and anchorage layout.
A Lift aramid fall protection safety net — also searched as aramid fall arrest net, heat resistant safety net, personnel safety net or aramid safety netting — is a personnel-catch net made from braided aramid (Kevlar®-type) rope. It is specified where a conventional polypropylene or nylon safety net would not survive: welding bays, foundries, steel mills, furnace and slag areas, hot-work zones on site, and any location where molten metal, sparks, radiant heat or hot slag can reach the net. Aramid does not melt — it carbonises from about 400 °C — so the net keeps its shape and its catch capacity where a thermoplastic net would soften and fail. We braid the rope, form the mesh and splice the border rope in our own factory, to any net size and anchorage layout you need.
What Is an Aramid Fall Protection Safety Net?
It is a rope net used to catch a person (or debris) falling from a work level — a roof edge, a scaffold, a bridge deck, an open shaft or a plant walkway. The net is fixed below or beside the work area, held by a border rope and anchor points, and its mesh is sized so that a falling person is contained rather than passing through it.
The difference between an aramid net and a standard construction safety net is the fibre. Polypropylene and nylon nets melt at 160–260 °C; aramid does not melt and resists continuous service temperatures up to about 200 °C, so it is the material of choice wherever heat, sparks or molten splash are present — and it is also far more cut and abrasion resistant, which matters where the net drags on sharp structure.
Fall Arrest vs Fall Restraint — and Why Deflection Matters
- Fall restraint — the net stops a person reaching the fall edge at all. The load is low and the net acts as a barrier.
- Fall arrest — the net catches a person already falling. Here the net and its anchors must absorb the kinetic energy of the fall, so the load is dynamic and much higher.
Aramid rope is deliberately low stretch — roughly 3–4 % elongation at break against 15–20 % for nylon — which is why aramid nets are stiff and dimensionally stable, but it also means the energy has to be absorbed by deflection: the sag of the net and the clearance beneath it. An aramid fall arrest net must therefore be installed with the sag and the clearance that the system design requires, and it must be anchored to points rated for the dynamic load. Never reduce the sag or the clearance to make a net fit.
Construction — Braided Aramid Rope, Mesh and Border
- Braided aramid rope — 8- or 12-strand braid, 4–16 mm, natural yellow or black; PU / PVC coating available for abrasion and UV protection.
- Mesh forming — knotless braided mesh (stronger, no knots to chafe) or knotted mesh where on-site repair is preferred.
- Border rope — a heavier aramid rope spliced around the perimeter, sized for the anchor load rather than for the mesh.
- Anchor fittings — corner eyes, stainless thimbles, eyelets or D-rings at the spacing your layout requires.
- Inspection and tagging — mesh size, net dimensions and splices are checked and the net is tagged with size, rope diameter, mesh and batch number.
Key Features and Benefits
- Does not melt — carbonises from about 400 °C, so it survives welding sparks, hot slag and radiant heat that destroy PP or nylon nets.
- High strength, low weight — roughly five times the strength of steel wire for the same weight, so large nets stay manhandlable.
- Low stretch, stable geometry — about 3–4 % elongation at break, keeping the mesh and the fixings predictable under load.
- Cut and abrasion resistant — braided aramid resists edge cutting far better than twisted rope; a coated net adds a further wear layer.
- Chemical resistance — unaffected by most oils, fuels and solvents; only strong acids and prolonged UV need to be managed (use a coated net outdoors).
- Repairable and custom-made — any size, mesh, coating and anchor layout; we match repeat orders to the original specification.
Typical Applications
- Welding bays, foundries, steel mills and slag areas — personnel protection where sparks and molten splash are present
- Construction and industrial fall arrest netting below roof edges, scaffolds and open shafts
- Bridges, docks, offshore platforms and helicopter decks
- Plant walkways, conveyor and machinery openings, and hot-work zones on site
- Debris and tool containment under hot work, where mesh is sized to catch small objects
- Any installation where the net must combine fall protection with heat resistance

How a fall protection net is specified — net size, mesh opening, rope diameter, anchor layout, sag at centre and clearance below.
- Anchor points — rated for the dynamic load, at the spacing assumed in the system design; never fix a net to a point that is weaker than the net.
- Sag — install with the specified deflection at the centre, and keep the clearance below clear of structure and stored material.
- Overlap and gaps — adjacent nets should overlap and be tied together; gaps at the perimeter must be smaller than the mesh opening.
- Sharp edges and heat sources — protect the border rope where it crosses structure, and keep the net clear of any surface hotter than its service temperature.
- Follow the plan — an aramid net performs only as well as its installation; fit it as designed and record the installation for inspection.
Inspection, Care and Safe Use
- Inspect before every use and at the intervals required by local regulation: cut or frayed strands, glazed or heat-damaged rope, chafed border, damaged splices and pulled anchors.
- A bleached and fuzzy surface is a sign of UV degradation — if in doubt, withdraw the net.
- Clean with fresh water and mild detergent; do not use strong acids or bleach, which attack aramid.
- Store dry and under cover; do not drag nets over sharp structure or hot surfaces.
- Never modify a net — cutting, re-knotting or shortening a fall protection net invalidates its performance unless it is done and re-certified by the manufacturer.

Why Buy Aramid Safety Nets from Lifet
Lift Sling Rigging Co., Ltd has produced rope, net and rigging products in Taizhou, Jiangsu for nearly thirty years. We braid our own aramid rope, form the mesh and splice the border in house, so mesh size, rope diameter, coating, anchor fittings and net dimensions are all under our control. Repeat orders are matched to the original specification, and third-party testing and pre-shipment inspection can be arranged on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why use an aramid net instead of a standard polypropylene safety net?
Because aramid does not melt. Polypropylene and nylon nets soften and melt at 160–260 °C, so welding sparks, hot slag and radiant heat destroy them. Aramid carbonises from about 400 °C and resists continuous service temperatures to about 200 °C, and it is also much more cut and abrasion resistant.
What mesh size should I choose for fall protection?
For personnel nets use 50–100 mm mesh so a falling person is contained. For debris or tools use 10–25 mm mesh. The mesh must also be small enough that nothing passes through at your site, and the perimeter gaps must be no larger than the mesh.
Is a low stretch net good for fall arrest?
Low stretch keeps the system stable and predictable, but it also means the energy must be absorbed by the net’s deflection and the clearance below it. That is why aramid fall arrest nets must be installed with the specified sag and clearance, and anchored to points rated for the dynamic load.
What is the fall arrest capacity of your nets?
Capacity is a property of the complete system: rope diameter, mesh size, border rope, anchors and installation. We size the net to the fall height and the anchorage you have — send us the figures and we will specify the rope and mesh, and provide test documentation on request.
Does UV light or heat affect the net?
Aramid is more UV-sensitive than polyester, so for permanent outdoor installations we recommend a coated net and storage under cover when not in use. For heat, keep the net below its continuous service temperature and clear of direct flame and molten splash contact.
Can you make custom sizes, mesh and coating?
Yes. Nets from 1 × 1 m to 10 × 10 m, mesh from 10 to 100 mm, knotless or knotted, coated or uncoated, with corner eyes, stainless thimbles or eyelets at the spacing you specify, and your own tag or private label packing.
